Stoke City have confirmed the capture of one former Liverpool man.
Liverpool’s summer has been nothing short of sensational.
After not spending more than the reported £12m they invested in Federico Chiesa last summer over the last two transfer windows, the Reds have come out flying this summer.
They have signed five players since the end of the season.
Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi have all signed for the Reds this summer, and a few more players are expected to be added to the club before the transfer window slams shut.
Liverpool are not the only club making moves, though?
The summer transfer window has afforded other clubs the opportunity to strengthen, and Championship side Stoke City have used the opportunity to sign former Liverpool man Aaron Cresswell.
Most Premier League fans will remember Cresswell for his time at West Ham.
However, the defender, who was born in Merseyside, began his career with Liverpool, progressing through the academy before being released at the age of 15.
He joined Tranmere Rovers after being released by the Reds, before spells at Ipswich Town and West Ham.
He left the Hammers at the end of the 2024–25 season but has now been snapped up by Stoke City.
“Stoke City have completed the signing of former England international left-back Aaron Cresswell on a one-year contract,” a club statement read.
“The defender joins the Potters following an 11-year stay at West Ham United, where he made 312 top-flight appearances, a record bettered only by former Hammers captain Mark Noble in the Premier League era.”
Speaking about his move, Cresswell said:
“I’m really appreciative of the opportunity to join Stoke City, and I’m excited for the season ahead.
Having spoken with Jon [Walters], the gaffer and Nev [Paul Nevin], who I worked with at West Ham United, it was evident how passionate they are about the project here, while their determination to bring success to the Club was clear.
“I have been fortunate to work in environments of high standards and professionalism throughout my career.
“That’s something which is ingrained in me, and I will deliver every day.
“I’m now looking forward to meeting the lads and getting straight to work in Spain this week.”
